Re-runs: In Fiction and in Life

Lately I came in contact with a memory from the past and that got me thinking about re-runs. You see, as you might have figured out, I love TV series… usually the teenage dramas! The thing is I enjoy owning the DVD’s so that when I feel like watching it again, doing a personal re-run, I am free to do so!

Now, what about real life? Do you think it is possible to just pick up the remote and hit play once again on that old faded memory? I really don’t think so, but it is so nice to see the sights, smell the sents, feel the touches… get a feel of the time passing - of how much you’ve grown and changed since.

I ran into an ex who I haven’t seen in 7 years or so! It was… interesting…

So, today, I felt like doing some re-runs on my DVD’s and so I picked up The O.C. from the shelve! Ain’t that perfect for what’s to come in less than a month?

California… here I come!

Peace and much love ;)

Everlast, sing me a song will ya?

Everlast, sing me a song will ya?

Funny thing this nostalgia I’ve been feeling about my teenager CD’s… Today (again looking for a soundtrack to my morning start) I discovered my collection of Everlast CD’s. Coincidence or not, It was exactly what I wanted and needed to hear today.

The video below was the first song I’ve heard of Everlast (a.k.a. Erik Schrody, Whitey Ford or Mr. White) - What it’s Like - from the album Whitey Ford Sings the Blues. I’ve heard him before on the hiphop group House of Pain (the famous Jump Around theme, of course), but it was only with this release that I noticed HIM. What a huge teenage boy crush I had over him!!!!! :

This mix of HipHop/Rap with acoustic Rock music and his deep voice is very interesting. I see him as the Cowboy Rapper… hehe!

I later (can’t remember the date) got the chance to see him live at the Lisbon Coliseum. The room was only half full… I guess he wasn’t that famous here, but the concert was beautiful and the crowd was very much in sync. I remember going alone to the concert… feeling kinda like I feel now. Oh, I think I still have the concert ticket hidden somewhere!!! ;)

Other nice tracks/videos of Everlast:

I hope you enjoy his music.

Happy Freedom day (portuguese national holiday). Peace and much love ;)

A couple of days ago I read a post on Single White Male blog about the All Saints. Good memories I have of those times… Today, while looking for a soundtrack for my waking up (I always start my day with loud music at home, while I take a shower, shave, etc…), I stumbled upon a CD called All Saints Remixed. I thought it was a cd of remixes of their tracks, but it turned out to be so much more: they were indeed remixes, but they were mixed together in a non-stop All Saints extravaganza!!!! Delicious! :P

The video I posted above is one of my favorites, specially because it is from a film I adore - The Beach.
I hope you enjoy this little trip down memory lane with me!

this part…

this part…

Scotty: How did you get so cute?

Kevin: I was born this way. What’s your excuse?

(…)

Scotty: I Love this part, when you look at someone and they don’t look away

I also do love that part… oh, I’m a hopeless romantic torn away by this somewhat ungrateful society!

WOW… The side-effects of the freakin’ drugs are taking over me! Shit! At least I haven’t touched a cigarette in 7 days! And yesterday I was out for drinks and did not feel like smoking at all! I guess depression is a good price to pay for this. :)

But I have my dear side-kick, dear Ser.Calvin, to help me out! Yesterday we went to have some sushi and then see Sweeny Todd, what an amazing movie!

Then I went to Bar 106 for a couple of drinks (so much freakin’ smoke there, lol) and I was surprised to encounter someone there I haven’t seen in a long time. It is someone that once upon a time broke my heart and fed it to the sharks (so to speak), but for whom I now feel a great deal of care. I was happy to find him looking good and in peace with himself.

So much emotion for one night…(oh and the smoke was bothering me so much! LOOOL). I had one more vodk-tonic and then went to Bricabar for 5 minutes, only to realize I don’t have any patience to stand there!!

Today I just laid on the sofa, and watched the first 5 episodes of the first season of “Brothers & Sisters” (I’m watching everything from the beginning again), where, on episode 5, I found the pearl above!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Thanks for reading and, please, write a comment… it’s not fair just to be a voyeur! :D (but it was nice to receive an anonymous e-mail a couple of days ago!).

Peace and much love ;)

Knight Rider… fast-forward 25years!

Knight Rider… fast-forward 25years!

The 80’s hit series, which I loooove, is back in style - “An Icon Reborn”!

The original series was first broadcasted in my year of birth, 1982, and is now getting a well deserved follow-up (no, it’s not a remake!).

Tonight I saw the 2-hour pilot NBC premiered 5 days ago and It was actually good! It kindof reminds of the original pilot episode, but now in the 21st century with a sexy leading performance by Justin Bruening (who?) playing Mike Tracer - Michael Knight’s son. By the end of the episode there is even a special appearance by David Hasselhoff (oh so many plastic surgeries). Knight Industries Three Thousand, K.I.T.T. if you prefer, is a stunning Ford Mustang Shelby GT, with 550 horse power and it’s voice is by Val Kilmer… wow! It came to replace our beloved Knight Industries Two Thousand, the memorable sleek Pontiac Trans-m!

The one thing that kind of disappointed me was the opening credits sequence. The music is not that good (click here to see the old version). It sound like a mix of the original (briefly), Mission Impossible’s theme and a weak pop-rock thing. Also the dashboard of the car no longer features the 3 LED vertical stripes visualisation of K.I.T.T.’s voice - It’s now a synth-type thingy, cool anyway, but the old one was a classic! Well, here you have the new opening credits sequence:

Also, I loved a small detail… When the glove compartment opened (all automatic of course), you can find an Apple Wireless Keyboard!! How cool is that!!!! :D

Apple Wireless Keyboard on the glove compartment of the new K.I.T.T.

Can’t wait to know if this will become a regular series in November!

Peace ;)

3rd time’s a charm!

3rd time’s a charm!

This year went by in a heart beat, did’t it?

The Wonderful Life of Mr.WannaB celebrates today its 3rd birthday! woo who! :D

As you can see, there’s a new design, it’s called “Back to Basics”, a mix of modern and classic theme, inspired by my apartments floor (thanks Gattaca for pointing that out!!!). The “Stick it!” theme, now dearly departed, had an unusually long life time - 6 months! I’m amazed with myself! Let’s see how much time will this new theme stay here!!!

Tomorrow there will be a lot of good things, both for people celebrating Valentine day, as for us, single guys and gals, celebrating… yes… “Single & Fabulous” day!

I hope you enjoy the changes in the blog and this new theme. It’s, as always, a work under development. Share your opinions and what you think could be improved!

Peace and much love ;)

When I was reborn…

When I was reborn…

God, how could I have forgotten??
Last Wednesday, the 17th, was the 1 year birthday of the reborn of this blog!! I’ve never missed a month since, taking this blog to another level!

It was a dark time in my life… I was very very sad - heartbroken.
But it’s been a great year, and next one will be even better!

Thanks to everybody who has supported me through all of this!

Peace and Love ;)
